Mindful Holidays – Accessing Wise Mind.

Mindful Holidays – Accessing Wise Mind.

Mindfulness in our daily lives either through sitting meditation, during our daily tasks, or when going for a walk, can assist you in making better decisions! Yep. This is only one of the benefits of being where you’re feet are, grounded in the present moment, allowing your thoughts and feelings to move through you without judgment, and observing what is around you.

Many of you already know this stuff, but we all need to review, revise, renew, and revive our “knowing”; by staying open to learning, even if it appears redundant. (another post on this at another time!)

Let’s talk about the development and use of our Wise Minds. “Wise Mind” is a concept that incorporates both our emotional and rational brains. But it is even more than just this intersection or a balance between the “two brains”. “Wise Mind is what happens when you have a scale with your rational brain on one side, your emotional brain on the other, and you step back from the scale altogether to observe the entire scale from a larger more informed perspective. When we do this we have both the little picture and the big picture and it is easier to make wise decisions that are holistic.

Mindfulness assists us with developing our “Wise Mind” by developing a sense of non-judgmental awareness in the present moment.

It’s easy this time of year to suffer from decision fatigue. But don’t go back to sleep! You don’t have to give up with an “I don’t care anymore, you decide”, response; just turn to your breath. With a few slow, deep breaths, you can return over and over again to a place of calm, where the “next right thing” is waiting for you to discover it.

Decision-making 101 is brought to you by “Accessing your Wise Mind”! lol. Have a wonderful day. ❄
